How Can Hypnotherapy help me?
Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring and thoroughly enjoyable state during which a person becomes completely relaxed and their mind becomes calm, concentrated and aware. This altered state of awareness allows access to the subconscious mind, having relaxed the thought processes of the conscious mind. Most people find hypnosis very comfortable and relaxing, similar to the sensation experienced just before falling asleep or waking up.
The client is not unconscious and their normal physical abilities are not impaired, they are fully aware of what is being said to them and in complete control of everything they say and do throughout the experience.
Hypnosis will be combined with either suggestion therapy or analytical therapy to help the client to take control of their problem and guide them to making the changes and achieving the goals that they want.
Suggestion Therapy
Once the client is in hypnosis positive "suggestions" are made that are appropriate to the client's problems and this form of suggestion therapy is best suited to things such as quitting smoking, weight control and many fears and phobias. In most cases between 1-4 sessions of suggestion work will be enough.
Clinical Hypnotherapy
Clinical Hypnotherapy combines hypnosis with analytical therapy and is used to treat a wide range of emotional and psychological conditions, anxiety or stress related problems and unwanted habits or behaviours.
Hypnotherapy relies on the focussing of the mind to provide access to the subconscious, the part of the mind that controls our feelings, actions and emotions.
Once we have access to the subconscious mind hypnotherapy is used to discover the original cause of a person's problems. This can be summarised briefly as the "cause and effect" ; as for every effect (the symptom), there must be a cause; and once this cause is revealed, it can be removed, bringing subsequent relief from the symptoms.
